Please let me take this opportunity to tell you more about myself. I am fluent in both Portuguese and Spanish and enjoy speaking these languages whenever I have the opportunity whether with family members or patients. I was proud to serve in the US Air Force as an electronic instruments and auto-pilot systems specialist on F-4 jet fighters.

After completing my service I enrolled in Temple University, receiving my undergraduate degree in Biology/Spanish. I received my Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, completing my orthopaedic residency at University Hospital of Pennsylvania. I furthered my post-graduate education by completing three spine surgery fellowships: Pediatric Spine at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Cervical Laminoplasty at the University of Osaka Japan, and adult spinal cord injury at University Hospital of Cleveland.

I took my first faculty position as Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Cooper University Hospital/Robert Wood Johnson University in Camden, New Jersey. Just prior to joining Ohio Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, I was Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Director, Division of Spine Surgery at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.

I have taught medical students, interns, orthopaedic residents and spine fellows. I have lectured nationally and internationally on spine surgery at Universities in the USA, Thailand, Japan, China, Portugal, Macau and Azores. I have performed multiple spine surgeries at the University of Coimbra in Portugal.

My wife Rebecca and I have three daughters. Besides spending time with my family away from orthopaedics, I enjoy swimming, biking, wine tasting and wine collecting.

I look forward to meeting you.

Sincerely,
Josue P. Gabriel, M.D.
